What REALLY Affects Libido?

We’ve all heard it – a decrease in libido is due to declining hormone levels but that’s only part of what’s going on. As you’ll continue to learn, menopause can be an ‘exaggerator’ of what’s really going on in your life.

Two things (other than hormone imbalances) need more attention as it relates to libido are 1) the general state of your relationship with your partner and 2) your overall emotional and spiritual engagement in life.

There are many women in relationships with men they are deeply engaged with who are very excited to have sex – even with lowered estrogen levels ;) It’s sort of like when you are really tired because you haven’t have enough sleep but something happens that wakes you right up! Of course there may be a physical component (that can be easily addressed) but the real opportunity is to find a way to be excited and engaged with your man and your life – then the libido will get engaged too!

Remember, during this time of your life your hormones will sometimes not-so-gently remind you that it’s time to address your real issues. What a gift!
